Amortization and Accretion

Contains information that specifies amortization and accretion processing rules at the account level.

AM.AA/1

Do Automatic Amortization

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/1

Choose from Do Automatic Amortization

Enables amortization and indicates the calculation method at the account level. Overrides value defined in installation master field AA/1 (Do Automatic Amortization). Used with account master field AA/3 (Amortization Bookkeeping Effect) to accomplish automatic amortization.

Either installation master or account master field AA/1 is required to define the calculation method. No amortization occurs when AA/3 is blank.

NOTE: If amortization and accretion are enabled at the system level and you want to activate only accretion for specified account, this field should be left blank.

AM.AA/2

Date for Amortization

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/2

Data Format: MM/DD/YY

& then every

Indicates the date and frequency amortization is performed for this account. Overrides the cycle date and frequency entered in agenda task AMR (amortization (system wide)) as well as interest payment dates for specified account. Schedules requests for agenda task AMRA (amortization (single account)).

AM.AA/3

Amortization Bookkeeping Effect

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/3

Choose from Amr Bkkeeping Efft

Indicates calculation method used to amortize premiums on bonds. Is used with installation or account master field AA/1 (Do Automatic Amortization) to accomplish automatic amortization.

If blank, no amortization occurs.

See the Tax Reference Guide, Chapter 1, for more information.

AM.AA/4

Accretion Bookkeeping Effect

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/4

Choose from Accretion Bkkeeping Efft

Indicates calculation method used to accrete discounts on bonds. Is used with installation or account master field AA/6 (Do Automatic Accretion) to accomplish automatic accretion.

If blank, no accretion occurs.

See the Tax Reference Guide, Chapter 1, for more information.

AM.AA/5

Amortize Bonds to Pre-refunded Date

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/5

Choose from Amort Bonds To Pre Ref Date

Determines whether to amortize bonds to the pre- refunded date. Used with security master field BI/49 (Pre-Refunded Date) and BI/50 (Pre-Refunded Price). Overrides installation master field AA/5 (Amortize Bonds to Pre-Refunded Date?).

Default is N.

AM.AA/6

Do Automatic Accretion

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/6

Choose from Do Automatic Accretion

Enables accretion and indicates the calculation method at the account level. Overrides installation master field AA/6 (Do Automatic Accretion). Used with account master field AA/4 (Accretion Bookkeeping Effect) to accomplish automatic accretion.

Either installation master or account master field AA/6 is required to define the calculation method. No accretion occurs when AA/4 is blank.

NOTE: Security master field OID/9 (OID Issue Date) indicates the accrual method to use for OID calculations (straight line vs constant yield).

If amortization and accretion are enabled at the system level and you want to activate only amortization for specified account, this field should be left blank.

AM.AA/7

Accrete Interest Bearing Bonds on User Defined Cycle?

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/7

Choose from Acr Int Bearing Bd On Ud Cycle

Indicates whether interest bearing bonds are accreted on the same cycle as zero coupon bonds (noninterest bearing bonds). Overrides installation master field AA/8.

All bonds are accreted according to the cycle specified by agenda task ACRA (if no date is specified in account master field AA/8, agenda task ACR is used).

Interest bearing bonds are accreted on the bond’s interest payment dates (security master BI/43). Zero coupon bonds are accreted according to the cycle date specified by agenda task ACRA (if no date is specified in account master field AA/8, agenda task ACR is used).

Default is N.

NOTE: If this field equals Y, either agenda task ACRA or ACR must be scheduled for accretion to post. If neither task is scheduled, accretion will not post for any holdings.

AM.AA/8

Date for Accretion

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/8

Data Format: MM/DD/YY

& then every

Indicates the date and frequency accretion is performed for specified account. Overrides the cycle date and frequency entered in agenda task ACR and schedules requests for agenda task ACRA. Also overrides calculation of accretion with bond interest for interest-bearing bonds if AA/7 is Y (yes).

AM.AA/9

Security Type or Subclass to Include

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/9

Choose from Sec Typ Or Sclass To Incl

Indicates whether security types or subclasses are included in amortization and accretion. Can be used when the Amortization & Accretion table (function AAT) is not set up.

NOTE: If only specific security types or subclasses are to be included in amortization and accretion, they must be coded in account master fields AA/10 and AA/12.

Function AAT indicates, at the system level, security types or subclasses that are included in amortization and accretion processing. The system uses either the Amortization & Accretion table or AA/9; not both. The decision of which to use should be made at activation of amortization and accretion and should not be changed. See the Tax Reference Guide for more information.

AM.AA/10

Additional Security Codes to Include for Amortization

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/10

Data Format: 2(N),2(N),...

Identifies additional security codes to include in amortization if the Amortization & Accretion table exists, or restricts processing to specific codes if AA/9 is used and the Amortization & Accretion table does not exist. Is used with either account master field AA/9 or the Amortization & Accretion table (function AAT). Accepts either security type or subclass codes, depending on the value in the Amortization & Accretion table or AA/9.

AM.AA/11

Override De Minimus Rule

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/11

Choose from Override De Minimus Rule

Determines whether the De Minimus rule is overridden for market discount securities (government or corporate obligations) only.

Market discount government and corporate securities are accreted regardless of whether the accretion amount exceeds the De Minimus calculation.

Accretion only occurs when the accretion amount exceeds De Minimus calculation.

AM.AA/12

Additional Security Codes to Include for Accretion

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/12

Data Format: 2(N),2(N),...

Identifies additional security codes to include in accretion if the Amortization & Accretion table exists, or restricts processing to specific codes if AA/9 is used and the Amortization & Accretion table does not exist. Is used with either account master field AA/9 or the Amortization & Accretion table (function AAT). Accepts either security type or subclass codes, depending on the value in the Amortization/Accretion table or AA/9.

AM.AA/13

Eligible for AHB Processing

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/13

Choose from Eligible For Ahb Processing

Optional field.

Identifies specific account as eligible for amount held back processing via function AHB (Amount Held Back).

Account is eligible for AHB processing.

Account is not eligible for AHB processing.

Default is N.

AM.AA/14

Calculate on Settle Date

AMORTIZATION AND ACCRETION

Data Tag: AM.AA/14

Choose from Calculate On Settle Date

Optional field.

Indicates whether to base the calculation period on settlement date minus 1 day instead of trade date.

Calculates amortization/accretion based on settlement date minus 1 day.

Calculates amortization/accretion based on trade date.

Default is N.
